EMDR Therapy

Understanding EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a proven, evidence-based therapy designed to help people process difficult or distressing experiences. I offer EMDR therapy in Totnes, Devon, as well as online sessions, making it accessible wherever you are.

EMDR is particularly helpful when past experiences continue to affect your daily life — for example, through anxiety, panic, low self-esteem, flashbacks, or a sense of feeling “stuck.”

How EMDR Sessions Work

In EMDR, the brain is guided to reprocess memories that have become emotionally overwhelming. During sessions, you focus briefly on specific memories while engaging in gentle bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping. This supports your brain’s natural ability to integrate and resolve difficult experiences.

What EMDR Can Support

Trauma and post-traumatic stress (PTSD), Childhood or developmental trauma, Anxiety and panic attacks, Depression, Phobias, Low self-esteem, Flashbacks and intrusive memories, Emotional overwhelm or feeling “stuck”

Many people find EMDR particularly effective when traditional talk therapy hasn’t fully resolved these issues.

My Approach as an EMDR Therapist

I am a fully trained EMDR therapist and integrative counsellor, working in a trauma-informed way. Before processing memories, we focus on building stability and coping strategies to ensure sessions feel safe and supportive.

EMDR sessions are 90 minutes long and available face-to-face in Totnes, Devon, or online, depending on your preference.

Is EMDR Right
for You?

EMDR can be a powerful tool for healing, but it may not be the right approach for everyone. Together, we can explore whether EMDR fits your needs and how it can complement your counselling journey.
